Riding Elephants in Thailand

Post from Alice Colby below.  She is diving this week in Kona and will have the remembrance bracelet on her BC.  Click on the photo below to see larger.

“Yahoo” Look what I found! these are photos from the vacation/dive trip I took with Dave, DeDe, Luke & Ryan. These are happy times and great memories. I know it is bittersweet, but I hope it makes you smile to see everyone having fun.A quick story about the elephant ride: DeDe’s camera had been stolen in Vietnam and I only had limited memory left, but she asked to borrow my camera so she could take photos of the couple (in front of Dave, Luke & Ryan & behind us) so they would be able to have a photo of their own to remember their ride by. I was apprehensive, but let her do it. We all ate lunch together and Dave & DeDe became friends with those people right away. It just really stands out to me because it was such a generous and thoughtful gesture she offered to someone she only just met. Typical of her though! What a sweetheart! I can relay more stories about the other photos too if you like. Cheers, Alice

Note from John:  Thank you for sharing Alice.  With Photoshop (below), I have enlarged and enhanced the part of the photo that we miss the most.  DeDe isn’t shown, but we miss her equally.  I’ve got to tell you, this is hard.  I still can’t concentrate on my work.  Luckily, I have trusted/talented people who are doing the work at my company and keeping the wheels turning.  Myself and certain others are having dreams of David visiting them.  I’m not much into mysticism.  Maybe dreams are things we construct in our minds and I’ve been dreaming a lot.  Others who have talked to him in their dreams say that David says he’s sorry about all of this.  He and the family want us all to resolve this and be happy.  If David were here today, he would say that we need to process this, but then go on to live our dreams.  I’m trying, David.  Some day soon, I will.  Right now, this whole thing is unfathomable.

    john,
i know in time you’ll be able to focus on work and living your hope & dreams again. it’s just so soon after this sudden and catastrophic loss. i wonder what dede tell you if she were supporting you through this the way she helped lucia have her baby?
